Position Statement on Investigations into Veteran Advocates
In light of recent media reports highlighting unethical practices by certain individuals and organisations claiming to advocate for veterans, Veterans First Consulting wishes to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to ethical, transparent and reputable practices.
We are deeply troubled by the actions of unscrupulous actors who have taken advantage of vulnerable veterans who placed their trust in people who claimed to act in their best interests. These bad actors deserve to be held accountable and we support efforts by statutory authorities and the veteran community to expose and eliminate fraud in all its forms.
At Veterans First Consulting, our mission has always been clear: to serve those who served. We have never been asked to appear before any statutory body or law enforcement agency on allegations of fraud, misconduct or unethical behaviour. From day one, our team has operated with integrity, full compliance with applicable laws and a deep respect for the trust veterans place in us.
We view misleading advice and poor quality service as more damaging to the veteran community than the charging of reasonable fees for a high quality service which provides much needed assistance and produces outcomes.
We acknowledge that the veteran consulting industry is currently unregulated, leaving room for misconduct. Veterans First Consulting is actively pushing for regulation of the industry to ensure that all providers meet minimum standards of conduct, transparency and accountability. We welcome the opportunity for a scheme of regulation for the profession as a way to demonstrate our full compliance and to distinguish ourselves from those who operate in bad faith.
Veterans deserve honest advocates. At Veterans First Consulting, we will continue to lead by example by putting ethics first, always.
If any veteran or family member has questions, concerns, or would like to discuss the above information, we strongly encourage them to contact us directly. We are here to help.
