Shawn brings deep experience from his time at the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, where he worked across both the MRCA Initial Liability and Permanent Impairment teams.
By 2023, he was leading the MRCA PI team before making the move to Veterans First Consulting — where he's been proud to contribute ever since.
As a Team Leader, Shawn is driven by the opportunity to improve the veteran experience and deliver meaningful outcomes with a team that shares his values.
Shawn plays cricket, golf, tennis, and field hockey—and hasn’t had an off-season since 2012.
Tahlia brings experience from her time at the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, where she worked for over a year before joining Veterans First Consulting.

Emily spent over a decade working in compliance and training coordination in the trade apprenticeship space before joining Veterans First Consulting.

Hayley earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do when she was at 10 and ran her own fitness business.

Fiona joined Veterans First Consulting after a successful stint with DVA as a Combined Benefits Delegate determining both initial liability and permanent impairment claims. Fiona enjoys helping veterans understand the claims process and ensuring they receive every compensation applicable to them.
Fiona is a sports fanatic with Netball, AFL and Rugby League all high on the list, and also loves camping and relaxing in the great outdoors.
With over eight years of experience in Allied Health, Georgia has worked closely with veterans to help them utilise DVA claims to improve their wellbeing.
Georgia is passionate about empowering veterans to reclaim independence while building meaningful futures through tailored support and advocacy.
Georgia has a passion for travel and has explored destinations across Europe, the US, Bali, Fiji, Thailand, and New Zealand.
Kaitlin brings three and a half years of experience from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, where she worked primarily as a MRCA Permanent Impairment Delegate and briefly as an Initial Liability Delegate.
She assessed claims for liability and compensation under the MRCA legislation and also contributed to training and onboarding new staff. Her in-depth knowledge of DVA processes allows her to ensure veterans are assessed accurately and fairly.
Kaitlin is passionate about advocating for veterans and supporting them throughout the entire Permanent Impairment journey.
Kaitlin studied Visual Art at both TAFE and university — she loves drawing, sculpting, ceramics, and even dabbled in fashion design.

Makayla used to be a figure skater and is petrified of flying.
Amelia's partner is a current serving ADF member and she is active in the veteran community. She finds it fulfilling to assist people in vulnerable situations through her work at Veterans First and enjoys delivering as much support as possible for veterans.
Amelia says to do her job surrounded by people with the same priority makes for a "great workplace environment".
Amelia has lived in every East Coast capital city in Australia (including Canberra) because she loves a change of scenery. So far, Hobart has been here favourite!
Sabrinna previously worked with ADF members and veterans across military superannuation schemes including MSBS and DFRDB and now enjoys helping to make veterans' DVA claims processes easier to understand. Sabrinna says her work at Veterans First Consulting genuinely matters and makes a meaningful difference.
Sabrinna is a former representative water polo player who says the water is still her "happy place", but watching NRL and UFC with her partner and three cats comes pretty close.

Denise has over a decade of experience working in a clinical social work capacity, assisting veterans navigating DVA claims, mental health challenges and periods of uncertainty, particularly while waiting for decisions or services to be implemented.
Denise provides people-centric support that recognises the impacts of military service, identity shifts and cumulative stress. Denise finds inspiration working alongside a dedicated team of professionals committed to ensuring veterans feel heard and supported.

Carl served for 11 years in the Australian Army and trained with the Royal Australian Air Force and completed an exchange posting with the Royal Australian Navy.

Kevin Chapman is the Co-Founder of Veterans First Consulting, Australia’s largest dedicated team of veteran advocates. A former Airfield Defence Guard in the Royal Australian Air Force, Kevin served for eight years, including two warlike deployments. His firsthand experience of life after service — and seeing his mates and family struggle with the DVA system — inspired him to build a better path for others.
Kevin leads the operations team and is responsible for training, systems, and keeping the entire organisation aligned and efficient. Known as the “brains trust” for all things DVA, Kevin brings encyclopaedic policy knowledge, a relentless work ethic, and a no-nonsense attitude to everything he does. Leaving the ADF is very daunting, especially if it is due to medical matters. Veterans First consulting were there to support me from the very first phone call. I would have never been able to navigate through all the doctor’s appointments and discharge obligations without their help.
They walked me through the whole initial liability process and all conditions were accepted. During the permanent impairment stage, the Veterans First team were easy to talk to and I received maximum compensation. I was particularly impressed that when I asked to speak to the Director he called me within a few hours.
