Big Bounce Bash hailed as one of the most successful family events yet

Defence and veteran families from across the Albury-Wodonga region sprang through the doors for the family fun night at Bounce earlier this month.

The organisation welcomed 93 participants and was also pleased to host representatives from Defence Member and Family Support (DMFS), Open Arms Veterans & Families Counselling, and the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), who witnessed firsthand the positive impact these events have on Defence families.

In a post shared on its social media channels, Kookaburra Kids highlighted the event's popularity.

"Creating opportunities for Defence families to connect can have a lasting impact. The event helped demonstrate the value of creating spaces where families can come together and feel part of a supportive community."

"Every family we spoke with said they would attend a similar event again, and many families with children in our program age range expressed interest in joining future Kookaburra Kids Defence Kids programs."

Veterans First Consulting proudly supports the Kookaburra Kids Foundation and greatly values the important work it does to ensure young people feel supported, connected and understood.

"These family events are more than just a fun day out. They provide an opportunity for families to connect with others who understand the unique experiences of Defence life while introducing them to the support available," Kookaburra Kids said.

"Thank you to Veterans First Consulting for funding this event and helping us create opportunities for Defence and veteran families to build connections, strengthen wellbeing, and access support when they need it most."

Families who attended enjoyed exclusive access to the entire venue, including giant inflatables, obstacle courses, free-bounce zones, interactive games and team challenges designed to build confidence, resilience and friendships.

Kookaburra Kids delivers mental health and resilience programs for children of veterans aged 8 to 18, helping them navigate the unique challenges associated with military life, including parental mental health concerns, deployments and frequent relocations.

To ensure activities remain engaging and enjoyable, Kookaburra Kids partners with trusted local suppliers and veteran-owned businesses, including bowling centres, laser tag venues and go-kart facilities to provide safe, inclusive, and age-appropriate experiences for participants.

The next stop on the Veterans First Consulting-sponsored events calendar is the Kookaburra Kids Flip Out Family Fiesta in Villawood with heaps of fun for kids young people and their support networks from across the Sydney region.

A full centre takeover includes ninja warrior courses, obstacle challenges and dodgeball courts — with dinner thrown in!
