Yes, anxiety is a recognised mental health condition under MRCA. To claim, you'll need to show that your anxiety is linked to your military service, either directly or as a secondary condition to something already accepted. Yes. Through Non-Liability Health Care (NLHC), eligible veterans can access fully funded treatment for mental health conditions, including anxiety, even if DVA hasn't yet decided your claim. If you hold a Veteran White Card that covers mental health, your GP can refer you to a psychologist, psychiatrist or other provider who accepts DVA cards, and DVA will fund that care separately from your permanent impairment assessment outcome. This means you don't have to wait for a claim decision before getting help, while we focus on preparing the documentation that reflects the impact of your anxiety. You'll need medical evidence showing a diagnosis and documentation linking your condition to your service. This might include service records, incident reports or statements about traumatic events. Permanent impairment assessments alone, commonly take around 12 months, and when you include initial liability and specialist appointments, many claims take roughly 18–24 months in total.
