Yes, if your sun damage (solar keratosis) can be linked to your service, you may be eligible for DVA recognition and related entitlements under MRCA. A diagnosis from your GP or dermatologist, combined with service records (and where helpful, a brief statement outlining how much time you spent working outdoors during service), is often enough to support a well-prepared claim. Yes. If your condition has worsened or you've developed new lesions in additional areas, you can apply for a reclassification of your permanent impairment. We regularly help veterans whose initial entitlements did not fully reflect the impact of their condition or whose conditions have progressed over time. Once your claim is accepted, you'll generally receive a White Card for your accepted skin condition, giving you DVA-funded treatment when it's clinically necessary and in line with DVA's rules. This typically covers GP visits and dermatologist appointments, and procedures such as cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen treatment) or curettage may be covered where your doctor considers them reasonable and necessary. Some higher-cost or specialised treatments, such as photodynamic therapy, may require prior DVA approval and are not automatically covered in every case. If your overall impairment reaches 60 or more impairment points, you may become eligible for a Gold Card, which provides DVA-funded treatment for all clinically necessary health conditions, not just service-related ones.
